At last, I have got 5 minutes to get a Newsletter out, about what is happening. March has been a very busy month for Trish & I, as well as the business side, we had to make a decision, whether to sell or not. We had 2 people very interested in the café and the house. After much thought and discussion we have decided to take both places of the market. Many thanks to you all who sent messages of support when you heard the news. Anyway, bad luck to the Irish team for missing the grand slam in the six nations and I must congratulate the French team on winning the title. We had a great St Patrick's day in the café with the rugby on the big screen (many thanks to Paul & Jackie for the loan of your TV). All the 6 teams taking part where represented. Apart from St Pats, March was quiet as the weather made golf impossible, as well as VTT. Café ClosedTrish & I will be returning to the UK to see the kids and sort out some business. We will be closing the café from Tuesday 17th to 24th inc. GolfGraham has a golf day planned at the Ile de Ré, on the 24th April. As well as the Golf, he has planned other actives (all details are on display in the café). Anyone interested in taking part, please mail me soonest and I will pass your details on to Graham. We are going to form a golf society, linked hopefully to the English golf union. This will enable the members to get a official handicap. Anyone interested in joining can you please contact Graham or myself. Bike RidingNow that the long evenings have arrived, the bike rides will be taking place on a Thursday evening. The next ride is planned for Thursday 12th leaving the café at 18.00hrs. The route has been planned by Howie. The café will be open after the ride. If anyone is interested in leading and planning a route, please get in touch. Book readingThe next meeting of the book reading circle will take place at 19.00hrs on the 26th April. The book for discussion is Restless by William Boyd. If you would like to order a meal, please contact Trish. Computer ClinicThe next computer clinic will take place on Monday 16th April at 14.00Hrs. Barry will be on hand to assist with all computer related problems. Jan's Book stallAs I always seem to be late with the news and events, just to let you know Jan will be in the Café on the first Wednesday of May with her book stall. As well as books Jan also has a selection of hand made jewellery for sale. B&B meetingThe next planned meeting will be on Monday 30th April. I am hoping to get an English speaking accountant in to talk to us. May bank holidaysThe café will be open on Tuesday 1st May & Tuesday 8th May. New shop in VouvantNext time you are in the village, call in and have a look around the new shop next to the general store. Citadel has a wide range of table decorations and candles etc. Future EventsMost of you may be aware about the collapse of the ramparts in places. Although it is hoped that the government will meet most of the cost of repair, some of it will have to be met by the Rampart association. We have decided to support the Association this year. As last year we would like to have a stall at the car boot. If anyone is interested in helping or donating items for sale, can you please get in touch. Also planned for July is a garden party, with various actives. More details to follow soon. We are still expanding our menu, to cover lunch times. Also we have a selection of Tray bakes for sale. Salads will be added on soon for the summer. Happy Easter to you all A bientot George & Trish |
