January 2007
Bon Année 2007 already, and we are in to our 3rd year in the café. Trish and I would like to thank everyone who has supported us and have helped to make the last 2 years so enjoyable. It gives us a great feeling to see the part that the café plays in peoples lives and the friendships which are created within it walls. And so onwards to 2007! Xmas 2006 The carol service on Xmas eve was a great success, many thanks to all who helped by baking mince pies & sausages rolls, helped behind the bar or in the kitchen, or supported us by joining in the singing. Xmas day was also a great success once again thank you to all who helped out. Golf The final golf day of 2006 was held at the Petit Chene golf course. Unfortunately the course was very wet, making it very heavy going. As it was the Christmas society day, we invited David (from the old fish shop) and Roger( his French neighbour) to join us for the meal. Because of the weather no golf is planned for January, but we hope to start again in February. Graham has left details in the café for the April society day, to be held on the ILE DE RE. Watch out for further details soon. Rugby World cup 2007 Bad news on this one, it seems that the bus company has been unable to get any bulk number of tickets. It appears that many tickets have been bought up by corporate event organisers. I will have to look in to getting a large screen telly! Bike riding in the forest. This has certainly been very popular during 2006, and we intend to continue during 2007. So if you got a new bike for Xmas or have made a new year resolution to get fitter in 2007, come and join in. We have done some more exploring in the forest to find new paths and trails, mainly on the other side of the river; The next ride will be held on the 23rd January, leaving the café at 13.00hrs. The usual Bar-b-Que will be held after the ride. Computer Clinic Barry will be in the café Monday 8th January from 14.00hrs for the first clinic of 2007. So if you want to find out about cheap phone calls, or how to store photos etc., call in to see him.
